What to eat in Dungun, Terengganu?

Dungun is a town within the state of Terengganu located on the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia, between Kuala Terengganu in the north and Kuantan in the south. It is located approximately 90 km from  Kuala Terengganu. Among key tourist attractions in Dungun are Tenggol Island, Rantau Abang, Tanjung Jara, Chemerong Waterfalls, Bukit Besi, Tasik Puteri, Pasir Raja Forest Reserve and Teluk Bidara.

Teluk Bidara is a hotspot among locals for its accessibility, this beach comes to life during weekends when people of all ages engage in various beach activities. A family picnic under the shades, a stroll on the beach, playing some beach games or just enjoying the cooling sea breeze are among the activities indulged. If any tourist go to Teluk Bidara for beach activities, they also need to find where to eat nearby the Teluk Bidara. That's the main purpose we posting this entry.

The best food stall nearby the Teluk Bidara is Nizam Burger. Nizam Burger is a special burger created by Mr. Nizam who popular in Kuala Dungun. While the term “Nizam Burger” may refer to any of the burger sold in a Nizam Burger stall. A typical Nizam Burger consists of a beef or chicken patty, margarine, onions, an egg, cabbage and mayonnaise. Mr. Nizam and his wife make their own patty. The original recipe is created by Mr. Nizam’s brother and it became a hit among Dungunese. Nizam Burger started out in 2000 as a small family business operated from a stall in front of SK Seberang Pintasan 23050 Dungun, Terengganu. We can go there by Grab car to those who don't have their own transportation and don't forget to pin the location at SK Seberang Dungun.

The maps for Nizam Burger

On the left-hand side is the KLCC Burger and on the right-hand side is the KL Tower Burger. Tempting much isn't it?

Shown above is a KLCC Burger and KL Tower Burger, the most popular burger here. The patty is being dipped into a black pepper sauce plus with a rich and messy amount of chili sauce, slices of cheese, and their secret recipe green mayonnaise. Anyway, the price of KLCC Burger is RM 14.00 and KL Tower Burger cost RM 21.00. The price is reasonable because by eating only one burger you will feel very full. Armed with the powerful tagline "kenyang pah ceroh" that means you will be full until the next day. The difference between these two burgers is KL Tower Burger has more cheese and albeit appear lower than KLCC Burger. That is why the price is a bit expensive than others. Mr. Nizam and his wife who prepared our burger squeezed some thousand island dressing between the patties. I must admit it’s a good idea because it really made the burger nicer, really perfect for dinner and supper. You can request to put more black pepper sauce in the burgers, we really like the taste. Don't you?

Most of their customers in this stall are among the teenagers and students from UiTM Dungun. They also receive orders via 'WhatsApp and Facebook'. However, the workers are only two people so they do not do a delivery service. Customers who booked on social sites should take the burger at their stall. They also provide a dining table for their customers to eat at the stall. If customers eat there, they will be given free water but it is a self-service.

The owner of Nizam Burger

The juicy patty and lamb chop

One thing about this stall is that it's not like the rest which is normally run by some young punks. This is handled by a married couple and it's pretty clean in a way. Cooking wise is pretty much the same as the rest of the stalls.  We love the way they together prepared the burgers. Mr. Nizam will cook the burger and his wife will decorate the burger. Slowly cooking it on the grill and once it's almost done, they cut it through the middle carefully not breaking it into half and sprinkle seasoning into the middle of the patty. Interesting way of adding more MSG flavor to the burger.

KLCC Burger is the highlight of their menu and they once got an order from their customer to make a KLCC Burger for a wedding instead of a wedding cake. It goes viral and attracts many people to come and try their menu. They even made it into the newspaper! Taraaaaa!

Nizam's burger have about 60-70 menus

They actually have various types of burgers. Basically, they served almost all kinds of halal meats available in Malaysia from lamb to beef, fish to rabbit and even ostrich! Isn't that fantastic? Where else can you find the small stall that serves all of this kind of burger? As a popular saying goes "Do not judge the book by its cover". There goes the same as this stall.

The customers can also book a place to celebrate such as birthday celebration. Mr. Nizam will provide several tables and chairs at their stall for the celebration. There are also customers who celebrate their friend's birthday at this stall and book KLCC burger for each person. For those of you who come to Dungun and love to eat burger beside McDonald, we suggest you to indulge in a new taste of burger at Nizam Burger Dungun.
